And that's a wrap! 11 years completed- what a quick ride! Thanks to all who came to our final day (including some from Essendon- including an 18yo girl we had in one of our photos as a 7yo with Mark as Santa- so cute!!). Also really appreciated all the messages, texts, calls & some lovely cards /flowers/gifts today. Thanks to current staff Braiden, Steph and Jess, ex staff member Samantha Ellen Bound and my parents Phil and Gail (who were there from before day 1 all those years ago and every shop move!) for their support & helping out. Here we are in front of our memories wall- which was a positive and cathartic task for me. Gosh we did a lot! Strangely I was quite calm for my final bookstore speech of gratitude - just felt satisfied and proud. It was Mark who got a bit choked up in his speech. Nice 😊We clear out this weekend (not much to clear actually), the new company moves in on Monday, I get three days holiday then start my new job at Dymocks Highpoint getting the new store ready to open mid November!! I'm on a 2 month trial probation as the manager- so let's see how I go. 😜 Mark will enjoy just one job, no deliveries and more time for bowls & other activities. In between we will get our house ready to sell and move before the New Year or just after, and I look forward to writing my play about Louisa Lawson & the Aussie women suffrage movement. And so life goes on and we roll with it. Thanks everyone for the memories. We are looking forward to the next chapter in our lives. This page will close down tomorrow. #bookshop #bookshopmemories #11years #bookbonding
Husband and wife Mark Neicho and Natasha Boyd opened Book Bonding in August 2007. After locations in Mt Alexander Road, Essendon and Keilor Road Niddrie, they returned to Essendon at 168 Buckley Street in July 2015.
In February 2013, they opened a second store in their hometown of Gisborne.
After four years operating in two locations, and with 10 years in the Moonee Valley area, Book Bonding owners Mark Neicho and Natasha Boyd decided to consolidate their energies and revert back to one store, thus having one central location at Gisborne for both their public and schools business.
Inviting and child friendly, Book Bonding has an interesting array of adult and kids’ books plus knowledgeable, passionate and helpful staff to help you find the right book or literary related non-book products.
With a strong passion for books and community, Book Bonding proudly hosts bookclubs, foodies groups, author events and VIP Member nights. In this way, we have become a vital contributor to the literary lifeblood of both Moonee Valley and the Macedon Ranges. We also offer expertise and assistance to surrounding schools within these council regions and as far as Hoppers Crossing to Greenvale.
Also sharing the book-love are the resident bookshop dogs, Chobe and Jasper (named after one of their fave novels Jasper Jones) who adore pats from all the book loving customers when they visit!
We look forward to chatting about books and assisting your needs when you next visit.
